it looks as though a few models have gotten their hands on pieces from anthony vaccarello's spring 2012 rtw. this is definitely in my top five from spring 2012. the well-tailored, asymmetrical pieces look absolutely flawless on karlie, anja, and lou.
i first discovered this video over at, Fashionista Diary. and have since seen it posted many other places, for very good reason. halston chose to display their latest collection through a beautifully done video instead of the runway. the slow motion captures the collection, wonderfully. the timing of the video along with the music is honestly breathtaking. the main character is the gorgeous dree hemingway, who just so happens to be the great grand-daughter of ernest hemingway. it's especially unique that dree runs through the streets of new york past other models in the rest of the halston collection. the song, "you're the one" by benjamin bronfman (aka ben brewer, and husband to M.I.A) is completely entrancing which makes me watch this video numerous times in a row.
about half of jill stuart's collection showed lace and leather; revealing a sultry, yet upbeat look. the rest of the collection revealed sheer, floaty numbers. as they made their way down the runway, the models appeared as young girls playing dress up with frilly shifts and offbeat accessories. of course, i mean this in the greatest way possible. i would choose any of the dresses on any given night. and as for the footwear...i would don every pair as often as possible.
i am coveting every piece of, preen. thornton bregazzi's mixture of check-like textiles and intricate cutouts are more than i can handle; only because if given the decision to choose just one piece...i honestly don't think i could do it. i would have to say that this is my ideal 'frock wardrobe.'

graduating students of the academy of art university in san francisco debuted their collections at new york fashion week this past friday. the academy of art is the first and only school to show at new york fashion week; where they first appeared two seasons ago. it gives me even more confidence to know that the school i'm attending is the only art/design school to ever showcase their work in front of fashion's elite. as if showing their pieces at new york fashion week wasn't enough for these graduates; they managed to have 'it models' display their works of art. anja rubik, karlie kloss, chanel iman, and edythe hughes graced their presence on the runway. aau has an annual fashion show during the spring that i have been attending since i was a junior in highschool. the energy and expensive lighting that fills the tent in san francisco is appealing, and i can only imagine how it may seem in new york. every collection that i have viewed has never disappointed, and this week in new york is no exception.
being one of my favourite designers, alexander wang may be climbing to the top of my list with his brilliant personality. his charm and sense of humour is delightful. i wish i could be his friend. to motivate his models backstage, alexander himself concocted a little motivation and threw it onto a posterboard. genius!
